【short short fiction】Polar bear’s dinner
On the way to pick up Polar Bear, Dad and Mom can’t stop murmuring about her. The car is so small and light, like a fallen cabbage-leaf flying along the freeway. An aircraft passes through the night sky, cutting open a flash of light.
The Polar Bear’s flight has been delayed for so long. Dad and Mom are still talking on and on. She doesn’t understand how they can maunder so much about her short 32-year life. White, plump and pretty, the Polar Bear’s bulk is finally on the seat beside her.
A rainbow appears in her small car.
The Polar Bear is their pill and recipe; she will cure them, and make them become good parents: rich, understanding, wise, and never interfering into the lives of their children too much.
She hates Polar bear as much as she loves her.
Dad and Mom would be suicidal without Polar bear, because she is so beautiful and clever, gentle and tender; they are not at all similar, even though they are sisters.
She loves Polar bear, the only thing she can do for the malodorous home is to cook every night. That’s a servant’s job but she doesn’t care at all. With a beaming look on her face, Polar Bear says: “I’m so glad you are my sister.” She is satisfied.
But Polar bear didn’t say it tonight.
“Where did this come from?” Her chopsticks hang in the air; her face is whiter than usual for mere panic. A sudden chill of happiness swept over her as she felt Polar Bear’s drip of saliva upon her.
A white, plump and pretty, full of saliva, always her Polar bear.
Isn’t she adorable? She decided to make her sister a specimen.
She forgot to tell Polar bear that she loves her so much, but it doesn’t matter, because she will stay with her, now and forever.
‘Baby Polar bear, I’m home.’
Another night, she set the table; Polar bear sat opposite her, and everything was done to prepare her to become a specimen.
The pic comes from here.
